Working cross-departmentally, this position supports the Libraries mission, values, and strategic priorities with brand-oriented marketing campaigns and user-focused communications that are rooted in strong, compelling storytelling. This position provides wide-ranging marketing expertise and craft leadership. Essential marketing goals include: executing the NYU Libraries brand strategy; developing cross-channel marketing campaigns to raise awareness and increase the use of library services, collections, expertise, and activities; and using storytelling to tell the story of NYU Libraries and support our strategic initiatives.
This position provides design vision and expertise across a wide range of products and projects. Essential design goals include: upholding the NYU and NYU Libraries’ visual identity standards; coordinating, designing, and producing the Libraries newsletters and promotional materials; designing digital assets for use across the online environment; leading signage and wayfinding projects; and supporting staff in using, modifying, and updating standard marketing resources and templates. The Marketing and Design Manager works closely with central NYU offices to ensure brand and visual identity consistency, participate in University-wide groups and committees, and contribute to interdepartmental projects as necessary. The marketing and design portfolio is data-informed, sustainable, and user-focused and embodies our IDBEA principles.
The Marketing and Design Manager reports to the Director of Communications. This position sits within the Deans Office. Responsibilities Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree Bachelors degree in a marketing and design related discipline Preferred Education: Master’s Degree Masters degree in a marketing and design related discipline Required Experience: 5+ years Five years of marketing and design experience with progressive brand and project responsibility. Experience and skill in brand, marketing, social media, and design principles and best practices as they apply to brand identity systems and visual languages.
Demonstrated skill and experience with design tools, in particular Adobe Creative Cloud. Passion for solving problems while championing all facets of marketing and brand design. Strong facility with copywriting and proofreading. Ability to approach projects from a holistic point of view, from high-level strategy down to small design details.
Experience with a user-centered approach to marketing and design. Experience with content metrics, data-informed decision-making, and including data in reports and presentations Preferred Experience: 5+ years Experience in developing and executing a brand identity for a large and complex organization. Experience in developing and executing a signage and wayfinding strategy for a large and complex organization. Facility with the Google suite: Mail, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Slides, etc.
Experience with project and process management software, such as Monday.com. Experience with writing for the web, plain language, and UX writing. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong communication skills. Strong collaboration and relationship management skills.

Ability to juggle multiple projects and inbound requests Qualifications In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $92,000.00 to USD $112,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
