The Department of English Language and Literature is looking for a full-time Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our team. You will be an important contributor to our team reporting to the Department’s Chief Administrator and working directly with department colleagues across an array of roles to provide proactive and flexible support.

Communications & Marketing Coordinate with other team members to develop marketing materials, such as banners, invitations, postcards, flyers, posters, bookmarks, brochures, and inserts Write and layout the English Department monthly and annual e-newsletters Work with other department staff to publish event email reminders, event follow-ups, and other announcements Develop advertising plan using University Record ads, Michigan Radio spots, and social media ads Ensure that the communications strategy is consistent and reflects the university’s strategic vision Track digital marketing, website, email, and social media analytics; analyze the data and make recommendations Website Management As the department webmaster, maintain the English Department website; manage the upload process of content Initiate and design web projects Collaborate on, coordinate, edit, design, and layout pages such as subject guides and special projects Provide web development support for other department programs Social Media Create and maintain a calendar of social media postings and collaborate with staff to prepare appropriate content Oversee and assist staff with existing social media platforms — updating banners, monitoring comments, looking for trends such as hashtags, considering audience and growth Identify potential new social media marketing opportunities Manage and write for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) to ensure consistency, variety, and promotion of English news and events Maintain and analyze social media reports for future growth Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience Three (3) or more years of experience working in communications, marketing and social media in a professional setting Graphic design experience that includes the ability to make high-quality fliers and posters Accuracy in communications (including spelling, grammar, and fact-checking) Proficiency with software applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Google, Microsoft Suite, Constant Contact, or Mailchimp Social Media Platform management Website management Be prepared to provide a portfolio with examples of creative solutions and complex integrated campaigns that you’ve developed and designed.

The salary range for this position is $39,000 to $48,700, please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate’s experience.
