Job Purpose
The Associate Director of Marketing will be responsible for helping to promote all men’s and women’s sports at the College of Charleston. The role will be the primary marketing contact for volleyball, women’s basketball, baseball and softball. The position will also be the secondary point of contact for men’s basketball. The primary focus of this role is fan engagement and revenue generation.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree is required. 2+ years of experience working in Division I athletic program is highly preferred. Knowledge and basic experience in Adobe Photoshop. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The person in this role should be team-oriented, self-motivated, and possess strong organizational skills. Must be able to learn and adhere to all CofC, Colonial Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations. Experience in Adobe Photoshop software is preferable.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
Ability to work extended hours during certain seasons may be needed.

Create and execute marketing and promotional plans for assigned sports. Prepare all necessary items to run a successful gameday, including timing sheets, scripts, outlines, giveaways, performances, etc. Manage in-game elements for assigned sports. Collaborate with video, communications, facilities, coaching staff, etc. on all plans. Work with sponsorship team to ensure all sponsorship requirements are fulfilled.

Student/On-Campus Marketing: Oversee on campus marketing to the student body for all sports, including men’s basketball. Serve as athletics representative/liaison for university departments, including but not limited to Student Life, Orientation, Residence Life, Fraternity/Sorority Life, Admissions, Campus Recreation. Create and manage student-focused programming that will increase student attendance and engagement at CofC Athletics events. Serve as the primary project manager for the Men’s & Women’s Basketball. on-campus pre-season event (Basketball Block Party).

Ticket/Sales Initiatives: Work with the Director of Ticket Operations and the Assistant AD for Revenue & Fan Engagement, to develop and execute sales initiatives such as promotional ticket packages, group experiences, etc. to increase attendance and revenue at athletics events.

Graphics & Collateral Materials: Create flyers to assist in on-campus marketing efforts. Create e-mail graphics as needed and assigned by the Assistant AD for Revenue & Fan Engagement, with a focus being on theme nights & special promotions for assigned sports. Work with campus photographer, communications department and graphic designer to coordinate printed collateral for assigned sports.

Internship Program: Oversee recruiting, hiring, and management of marketing interns. Create schedule and job assignments for interns at all needed events and office duties. Ensure the internship program is a positive, learning experience for students.
